Day 223 Metaphysical Time Travel

Challenge from The Four.

The happy thing about physics... meta, quantum or otherwise... is that life can be as colorful as your imagination allows.  What you think is what you are. Follow me up the yellow brick road into the sky blue wherever!

Day 221 The Four: "So many times do i love again..."

Today I am responding to the challenge set out by the photographic artisans over at The Four.  Maddie, Darlene, Jamie and Kirsten have wonderfully feminine sensibilities in my view. It is so easy for me to relate to the photographic art of all four of these talented women. 

This challenge was set by Jamie. If you love macro photography, the earthly world in all it's lovely and miraculous detail then you simply will be ecstatic to find her site, aptly named  A Map Of My Planet. If you are drawn to photographing babies or children or families in their natural world, then you be delighted by her little known photography site Rhayne Photography. 

Without further ado the poem and my response.

Day 186 Dia de Bloglandia Party

Today I am participating  in the Dia de los Muertos AKA;  Dia de Bloglandia Party. The  creators of this magnificent celebration are  Susanna and Stephanie. I admit i wasn't even prepared to do this although i am thrilled to have an opportunity to introduce more of the people with whom i have spent so much time these past months. My alter is not of the traditional style but feels no less of an honoring of a life. I captured these images in magnificent natural settings filled with old and gnarled trees, rolling hills and paths that lead from one grave to another like a reception line in a wedding. I stop, often kneel and introduce myself "Hello, my name is Robin and i am so pleased to meet you..." and we go on trying to discover things about one another that we have in common. I read what i can see on each grave marker and imagine as best i can the rich lives of each human being. Children, mothers fathers, friends and lovers are all here to tell their stories. And even though most of these people began as strangers i have come to think of each new grave as a friend and returned to visit many more times.

This post (just below), this one, this one and this one will introduce you to beautiful alters of life and death. For me death is accompanied by many seemingly contradictory emotions. Sadness, joy and spiritual awakenings are some of what i have experienced and witnessed here in the land of the dead. 

I am happy to to honor the dead whom i have been meeting these past months in cemeteries and in my dreams.

This is my mother and me. It is the only photo i have of us alone together. My mother died almost 10 years ago. It would make her happy to know that although i miss her terribly today is a celebration for her life. For her her death meant going to a place she believed would  be comfort to her ravaged heart.
