My friend Leah is very good at encouraging me to celebrate my talent as a photographer. She is quite straightforward about this, requesting i bring my camera at all times and reminding me to take pictures when i get distracted. Leah is a painter and sees things with her unique artists eye. She understands my appreciation for the exquisite details of life and reminds me that i am in fact an artist as well.
I met Leah because she recognized my ability to capture the essence of a moment, a place, a person. She tells me she "loves my photography." I squirm a little uncomfortably when she says things like this but i have come to trust her sincerity. She challenges me to claim my identity as an artist and i am doing that more now than ever before in my life.
Leah is becoming a celebrity of sorts in the local interior design scene. She recently put the finishing touches on her cottage home in Canon Beach and was immediately contacted by a local writer who wanted to share the magic of her vision and submit her story to CoastStyle magazine. You can read the article here. That is my photograph of the upstairs bedroom on the cover and others of mine can be found within the article. Our friend Lara's photographs were also published.
This is our lovely Leah. You've certainly met her before and have seen another of her recent collaborative projects, The Making of Sparrow Cottage on my blog.
Her paintings, like this fabulous cow can be found and purchased locally at Thea's Interiors, and on her website Art by Leah. She will also be the featured artist at The Ocean Lodge showing her new paintings during the Spring Unveiling event at Canon Beach from April 30th through May 2nd . I'll be there to share in her success just as she so generously celebrates my own. I hope to see you there!
