On Friday i got myself all dressed up in my newest Goodwill find; beaded angora sweater paired with sexy jeans and fancy cowgirl boots. I suppose i will find out i am way behind the fashion curve with the boots. Oh well. When i bought them i was harking back to my twenties when my sister and i wore pigskin a** kicking boots every day to our office job. And once we were having a drink in the corner tavern of our Chicago neighborhood only to end up in a girl fight. We riled up the locals by dancing together. A slow dance. Up-close. You have to remember that was back in the early 70's when the civil rights movement hadn't yet gotten around to including gays or lesbians. I love it when old memories are triggered unexpectedly like that.
I know many of you think i don't have a racy past...that i just popped out of a pumpkin in an apron all nice and clean and fully grown.
Anyway i was going to tell you about making coffee filter flowers and eating cookies with my girlfriends.
This is Isabel our hostess. Walking through the front door into her home was like entering a cross between a vintage fabric store and a 1920's antique shop. There were beautiful floral paintings, china, dolls and pillows. Extensive collections of creamers, china clocks and religious icons were lovingly placed upon chipped, scratched and repurposed side tables, desks, shelves and dressers. A love of roses and the color pink jumps out at you. The best place was in the upstairs hallway where Isabel has a closet along the full length of the wall filled with fabric. Barkcloth, damask, cotton, linen. Large floral prints, teeny tiny floral prints, pink, mauve, ruby and white. Stacks and stacks of it ready for her sewing machine and imagination.
We weren't limited to paper flowers. We had beautiful organic fabrics to choose from as well.
It isn't difficult to make these girls laugh. They come prepared to be entertained and to entertain.
Lara looking quite fetching.
My sweet Leah who i dragged along so that she could get out of the house. She has been in the midst of a move and remodel for three weeks now without coming up for air.
Joy who is best described by her name :)
I introduced you to Lisa in my post about cupcakes and crafting a few weeks back.
Julie is my gardening mentor. She is the keeper of the delightful garden Hollyhocks on the Corner.
Lara and i working on our mirror self-portrait skills.
These two girls Cindy and Natalie were not able to come to the crafting day because they were preparing for Cindy's monthly Queen of Tarte show. I have photos from that event to post later in the week :)
What have you been crafting lately? And what kind of foot fashion did you don this past weekend... anything naughty? I need all the fashion tips i can get....
love, robin
